Communication and Culture AS

So far in Communication and Culture I have learnt about different types of key words within the subject such as Communication (interacting with someone) Culture (social behaviour within different types of social groups), Representation (the way something is presented), Value (the importance of something), Identity (who or what somebody is) and Power (being in a stronger position than someone else). We also learnt briefly about some other terms such as Idiolect, Sociolect, Dialect and Accent. After learning about these, I had to use the terms to write an essay about myself.

Also, We learnt about the process approach where we learned about the sender, message and receiver of communication which can come from something as little as an alarm clock to you telling you to wake up, to a face to face conversation with a friend. For an example of this you could say that an advert on a bus would be Company (sender) > Advert of the product (message)> Martha (receiver). The advert would be classed as Non-Verbal as it was written and therefore isn't a verbal communication.
